THE LAWS OF GOD: THE TANGIBLE AND THE INTANGIBLE
GOVERNING OUR PHYSICAL BODIES
Since the creation of the world, God established the foundations of the earth and set everything in order. This order is governed by laws, laws made and upheld by God’s own integrity. Nothing created was meant to exist without structure or accountability. Before the fall, all things functioned in obedience to these divine laws, and man was created primarily to steward that order. Man’s dominion over tangible creation was designed to reflect the will and nature of God. Man was instructed to dress and keep the Garden, maintaining it according to God’s laws so that everything would remain in harmony.
However, when sin entered through man, the very foundation that sustained order, righteousness through obedience, was lost. Man’s dominion became corrupted, and through him, disorder spread into creation. What was once governed in alignment with God’s order became subject to corruption and imbalance.
In response, God revealed laws to guide man, especially to restore and govern his spirit, which is foundational to true restoration. The Law given through Moses pointed to the problem of sin, while grace and righteousness through Christ addressed the root of that problem and provided the pathway to redemption.
Scripture makes it clear that creation itself is not excluded from restoration. Everything God created operates by laws designed to preserve order as seen in Genesis 1 to 3. Disobedience to these laws results in disorder and the consequences we recognize as brokenness. The laws of God are not limited to the spiritual alone. Both spiritual and natural realms are governed by divine principles.
As believers, our commitment must go beyond spiritual health, though that remains primary, to include proper stewardship of our physical bodies. Our bodies are created with systems and structures governed by laws. When these laws are honored, the body functions as intended. When they are ignored, the result is often sickness or dysfunction. Every part of the body, the eyes, mouth, nose, heart, brain, kidneys, liver, requires intentional care. Just as we pursue spiritual growth, we must also take responsibility for our physical well being.
For example, if kidney health depends on proper hydration, avoiding harmful substances, and maintaining healthy habits, neglecting these can lead to serious health consequences. The same applies to the heart, liver, and other organs. Ignorance or neglect of these principles does not exempt anyone from their effects.
In the same way God appoints spiritual leaders to guide and care for us spiritually, He has also provided medical professionals to help maintain and restore our physical health. God works through both spiritual and natural systems for our well being.
While God, in His sovereignty, can intervene supernaturally to bring healing, this must never become an excuse for careless living. Divine healing is a provision of grace, not a license for irresponsibility.
Your responsibility is to discover the laws that govern your life, both spiritual and physical, and to live in obedience to them. This is where true stewardship begins.
Live healthy.
